The rain and flooding has caused several sinkholes in Brunswick County

Saturday morning, the Brunswick County Sheriff warned people on social media that parts of Kingtown Road are closed because of a sinkhole in the 6100 block.

Traffic should detour down Myrtle Head Road and Little Prong Road.

Last night, emergency officials confirmed there was a sinkhole in Sunset beach that was 20 feet across and 10 feet deep.

NCDOT has confirmed that the sinkhole has been covered up. They are in the process of covering a near by sinkhole in the same vicinity.

The sinkhole was located on Highway 179 and Park Road, just south of N.C. Highway 904, near the Ingram Planetarium.
