Community drug drop at Dosher hospital

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Dosher Memorial Hospital will hold its semi-annual Operation Medicine Cabinet on Thursday, August 27, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program allows you to safely dispose of out-of-date or other medications by driving under the portico at the front entrance of the hospital, 924 N. Howe Street.

Staff from the hospital will collect unwanted prescription medicines and non-prescription drugs. You can also hand over unwanted hypodermic needles and pet medications. All collected items will be incinerated and disposed of according to state and federal regulations.

Law enforcement officials will be on hand to help control traffic and monitor the collection process.

This is the ninth Operation Medicine Cabinet event conducted by Dosher and is held in conjunction with the Southport Police Department, Brunswick County Sheriff's Department, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and Bald Head Island Public Safety Department.
