LELAND, NC (WECT) - Leland police are looking for a man they say broke into Absolute Vapor early Friday morning.

According to officials, the incident occurred around 3 a.m. The suspect, seen wearing a hood, was caught on surveillance footage smashing the front window of the business with what appears to be an ax.

The owners of the store have security cameras and an ADT security system. They think the alarm scared him off. Surveillance footage shows the man attempted to take a glass display case, which he was unable to get.

Owner Tim Sparkman was alarmed when ADT Security called him this morning.

"Of course you go into panic, 'Did they take everything out of the store? How are you going to rebuild after that for this store?' We're just very fortunate that he didn't get anything. All we have to do is a window replacement and a new logo," Sparkman said.

It is going to cost Absolute Vapor close to $2,000 in damages, in order to repair the broken glass and get a new logo on the window that was smashed. Sparkman also plans to add more security cameras in his store.

The Leland Police Department is investigating the break-in and ask that anyone with information call them at (910) 371-1100.
