ATLANTIC BEACH, NC (WECT) - Tropical Storm Ana was responsible for a significant amount of erosion along coastal beaches in North Carolina this weekend. Ana was also responsible, however, for depositing some weed on at least one of them.

According to Major Shawn Reaume of the Atlantic Beach Police Department, a call came in around 10:15 a.m. Sunday that a "suspicious" package, wrapped tightly in brown tape, was discovered on the shoreline.

Officers responded to the scene, examined the package, and determined that it contained over 12 pounds of marijuana.

Maj. Reaume says Tropical Storm Ana likely washed the package ashore; which appeared to have been in the water for quite some time, because barnacles and other sea creatures were attached to it.
