WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - From Spiderman and Superman, and all the super heroes in between, Fanboy's Comics! hosted its 13th Annual Free Comic Book Day on Saturday.
Fans of all sizes and all generations flocked to the South College Road store to find their favorite comics.
Store owner, Thomas Gilbert, said Free Comic Book day is like the Superbowl of events for his store. Gilbert said the newest release of the Avengers 2: Age of Ultron only helped boost attendance.
"We've definitely seen an increase," smiled Gilbert. "People always get excited about it who haven't read comic books in a while, and go see the movie and decided they want to get back into it because they are hyped up over the movie. So a lot of Avengers graphic novels sold, Avengers T- shirts, and a lot of people buying t-shirts to wear to the theater for opening week."
Saturday was not the only day Fanboy Comics! will hand out free comic books. They plan to give away some more at their newest Marvel comic book release this Wednesday.
