COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Two Old Dock firefighters were injured Tuesday when their pumper truck wrecked on the way to a call.

Columbus County Deputy Fire Marshal Shannon Blackman said the crews were responding to a grass fire around 5:30 p.m. when the truck flipped on Dock Road, approximately three miles east of Highway 130. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Blackman said the firefighters were taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Trooper Capps tells us neither of the men suffered serious injuries and both were conscious and alert on the way to the hospital.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
