Wilmington YMCA releases photos of fire damage

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Officials have released new details and images from the fire that ripped through the Wilmington Family YMCA, forcing it to close its doors.

According to a news release, the pool and gymnasium at the facility may be able to open in four to six weeks. Crews are still working to clean up from the fire earlier this month.

Dick Jones, President & CEO stated, "As you can see from some of these pictures, we have considerable work ahead of us to make 2710 Market St. a bigger and better Y for you."

Officials say due to the magnitude of the repair work needed in the core portion of the building, they plan to open a satellite location called the "Express Y." The space is expected to be in place in the next 120 days, and will house health and wellness activities.
