Kids ring in the new year 12 hours early

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - 3…2…1…HAPPY NEW YEAR! Children in Wilmington were able to ring in 2015 with a special celebration designed just for them.

Not many kids are allowed (or will manage to stay awake) until midnight, so the Wilmington Children's Museum held a party of their own around 12:00 p.m. instead.

The event was a way for children of all ages to enjoy the excitement of brining in the New Year without having to stay up past their bedtime.

If you missed the event Tuesday, don't worry! The museum will hold an encore event Jan. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. Complete with confetti and noise makers, the "midnight" celebration happens at noon.
