WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Emergency crews responded to a traffic accident involving a dump truck and a minivan at the intersection of MLK Parkway and South College Road just before noon on Monday.

According to officials, the dump truck made an improper left turn from S. College Road onto MLK Parkway and struck a Toyota minivan.

The driver of the minivan was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the accident, the dump truck began leaking diesel fuel from its saddle tank.

The leak forced the closure of some of the lanes at the intersection as Hazmat Units worked to cleanup the spill.

The scene has now been cleared and traffic should be returning to normal.

The driver of the dump truck, 63-year-old Larry Britt of Farmville, was charged with making an improper left turn. Britt was not injured in the accident.
