Man leads Highway Patrol on vehicle pursuit at Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - Troopers with the State Highway Patrol were led on a chase Friday night through Wrightsville Beach.

According to Highway Patrol officials, Fisher James Hardee, 19, led officers on a chase near Causeway Drive towards Lumina Avenue around 11:20 p.m.

Officials say the chase started when Hardee failed to stop for officers at a traffic stop.

Officers were able to get Hardee to stop on a side street. He surrendered with no incident.

Hardee was arrested and charged for felony speeding to elude arrest with aggravated circumstances, driving while impaired and speeding.

Officers say the suspect hit a patrol car causing minor property damage to the patrol car and the suspect's vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

Hardee is out of the New Hanover County Jail on a $7,000 bond.
