Southport teen arrested for multiple B&E of motor vehicles

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WECT) - A Southport teenager was arrested over the weekend on multiple counts of breaking and entering into motor vehicles.

According to the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department, officers received a call from a concerned citizen calling about a suspicious person in the area of the 2200 block of East Boiling Spring Road around 7 a.m. Saturday.

Officers responded to the area and found John Ethan Holbrook, 19, near the intersection of East Boiling Spring Road and Fayetteville Road.

As officers approached Holbrook he was seen throwing items over a fence.

Officers took Holbrook into custody without incident and found that he had a loaded semi automatic pistol that he had taken from one of the victims. It was later determined the items Holbrook threw over the fence had been taken from multiple vehicles in the area of East Boiling Spring Road and Frink Lake Road.

Holbrook was charged with ten counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, felony larceny of a firearm, felony possession of stolen property, nine counts of misdemeanor larceny, carrying a concealed weapon and three counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen property.

Officers placed Holbrook in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond and a $10,000 unsecured bond.
