WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington Police have dropped charges against a man they arrested in connection to a deadly home invasion that took place in Wilmington on June 13.

According to WPD officials, the charges against Markee Tyric George, 26, were dropped after eyewitnesses came forward and gave police enough reason to believe he wasn't involved in the shooting.

"When we received this information we asked the District Attorney's office to drop the charges immediately against Mr. George", says Chief of Police Ralph Evangelous.

Evangelous says it's important that witnesses come forward and share as much information as possible so that justice can be served.

The deadly home invasion occurred on South 13th Street on Friday, June 13. Aaron McGhee, 47, died at New Hanover Regional Medical Center after being shot.

Another man, Gerae Kareem Graham, was also shot during the incident but survived.

US Marshals Task Force arrested Zeer Nifis Cannady on June 16 for his connection to the fatal shooting.

Witnesses told police that Cannady and two other gunmen entered the home to commit robbery and that's when shots were fired.

Police are still searching for the other two suspects.
