WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Rocky Horror Show has become somewhat of a tradition with City Stage.

The company has performed the cult musical several times over the years. This time it's debuting at Thalian Hall.

The show is a tribute to science fiction and B horror movies, and has garnered a huge following over the years, especially after being adapted for a film in 1975.

The show introduces us to straight-laced, newly engaged couple Brad and Janet as they enter a mysterious world of transvestites, aliens and sexual exploration.

"There's sexy scary people, scarily sexy people," said actor Patrick Basquill. "It's going to throw you for a loop. It's going to make you think about yourself, and it's going to shock you a little bit."

Both the movie and the stage production have spawned a litany of callbacks that audience members shout during the performance.

"Don't throw things," said Basquill. "This is the historic Thalian Hall. Do not throw things, but yell as much as you want. It is encouraged. It's not often you come to a show at Thalian mainstage and throw words up at people and they'll respond in kind. It's awesome."
