BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A 13-year-old died Monday around 1:30 p.m. after falling out of a pickup truck, according to authorities.

A 15-year-old was driving that truck near Oyster Lane and Red Bud Road in the Supply area, and the 13-year-old was riding in the back. The truck was going about 10 miles per hour when it made a right turn onto Red Bud Road.

At some point just before the turn, the 13-year-old stood up and fell out of the truck, where he died on the scene.

Troopers say that despite the age of the driver, no laws were broken because the road he was driving on was not a state-mandated road.
