COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Family members say 8-year-old Omari Freeman wants to be a police officer, and judging from a video captured by a surveillance camera, he looks like he's on his way.
Freeman was at Freeman's Gas and Grill in Bolton, recently which is his grandmother's store, when a man walked by and put two alcoholic beverages in his pocket. The man spots Freeman watching him, but gives him a high five as if nothing happened.
Then the two walk to the front of the store, where the man talks with Omari before walking out.
Freeman tells the cashier about what happened, and the employee then calls the man back into the store, where he returns the beverages.
"I didn't want him to walk out the door without paying for it and taking stuff that he didn't pay for," said Freeman.
Sunday, at Omari's church Townsend Temple, the Bolton Police Chief will present the little boy with an award.
