Jennifer Wayne named Queen Azalea

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The North Carolina Azalea Festival has new royalty this year.

The festival committee announced Wednesday morning that Jennifer Wayne, a singer and current reality show contestant, will be this year's Queen Azalea. Wayne is also the granddaughter of legendary western film star John Wayne. Wayne is currently on The Amazing Race.

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory will serve as the parade marshal this year.

Other celebrities include:

Colonel Joe Kittinger - Colonel Kittinger set four world records when he jumped to Earth from a height of 19 miles above ground. Last year, he helped Felix Baumgartner break the skydiving record by serving as his capsule communicator.

Emily Maynard - Maynard hosts a podcast on the Speed Channel and also appeared on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.

Chris Corchiani - Corchiani played basketball for NC State, before playing for the Boston Celtics for a season.

Benjamin Bourgeois - Bourgeois has won surfing titles throughout his career, including a place on the 2001 World Championship Tour.

Arlie Honeycutt - Honeycutt is Miss North Carolina 2012.

Alexa Allemani - Allemani appeared in the role of Allison on hit tv show Mad Men. She has also acted on The West Wing and Criminal Minds.

Peyton List - List is a Disney Channel star, where she appears on the show Jessie. She has also been in several films, including two installments of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and 27 Dresses.

Win McMurry - McMurry is a journalist for the Golf Channel, where she anchors the PGA Tour Primetime program.

This year's Azalea Festival kicks off next week and runs from April 10th-14th.
