WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A Girl Scouts camp that's been around for 64 years in Brunswick County has reportedly been sold.
Area Girl Scout leaders say that they were informed of the sale of Camp Pretty Pond Friday night.
Phil Wahoff, who is the Girl Scout leader for Troop 149 in Brunswick County, says they were informed in a meeting that the camp had been sold to the owner of Orton Plantation.
WECT could not reach anyone with Orton Friday night.
Wahoff says girl scouts in Southeastern North Carolina are distraught , saying they were caught off guard by the news.
"We were blind sided," Wahoff said Friday night.
Camp Pretty Pond is located in Winnabow. It was purchased in 1948.
