BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Firefighters in Oak Island have managed to put out a fire that started in a vacation home.

Emergency officials were dispatched to 1019 West Beach Drive in Oak Island on Tuesday. Firefighters managed to get the fire under control soon after they were dispatched.

According to Oak Island Fire Chief Chris Anselmo, no one was inside the home at the time.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and has since been released.

Investigators have not determined a cause of the fire and don't expect to. They said the house is a total loss.

Anselmo said the vacation home is currently managed by Margaret Rudd and the people staying in the home checked out on Sunday.
