BURGAW, NC (WECT) - To get the theater experience, most of the time you'll need to travel into the city to catch a show. However, two brothers are pushing to bring live theater performances to the rural parts of the state and they're from our own backyard.
Noah and Gabe Harrell grew up in Burgaw and they recently constructed a horse drawn wagon for their traveling troupe's fall tour ' The Rural Academy.' The group will travel all over the state to rural areas not only to celebrate rural culture, but to bring unique performance art-- something that is hard to come by in rural areas.
From shadow shows projected on screen by using an oil lamp as a back light, to silent cinema shows narrated by live music and operated by bike pedaling-- the performances are as unique as they come.
