WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Methodist Home for Children got a big boost tonight from Wilmington's Epicurean Evening, an annual event that was held at the Wilmington Convention Center Thursday night.

Our Frances Weller was the honorary chair and emcee of the event.

People wined and dined on food and drinks from 34 of our area's best restaurants and their top chefs.

The Methodist Home for Children help over 400 children in Eastern North Carolina every day. Organizers say the lives of those children are changed with the support of the community through the event.

Last year, the event raised $70,000. This year, the event organizers hope to top that.

The Epicurean Evening also serves as a competition for area restaurants. This year, the Hilton Riverside won the copper kettle for its food.
