ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A man from Jacksonville is charged with shooting the 15-year-old sister of his estranged girlfriend. Anita Law died of her injuries at the hospital.

Autopsy results released Thursday show Law was shot twice.  She was not stabbed as previously thought.

A knife was found under Law's body when emergency workers moved her. They believe she was holding it before being shot.

Pernell Devon Jones, 24, appeared in court Monday in Onslow County on a first-degree murder charge.  Jones is a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune. He is being held without bond.

Authorities in Onslow County said Jones went to his estranged girlfriend's home Saturday night. Shermetryce Grasty called 911 to ask for help after finding out Jones was on the way over, according to a news release. WITN reports Law was trying to protect her sister when Jones allegedly stabbed Law in the abdomen and shot her in the chest with a pump shotgun.

Police said Jones tried to get away, but lost control of his vehicle and ran off the road into a ditch.

Jones is in the Marine Corps Engineer's School. Officials say his program of study is an ammo technician.
