NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - A maintenance contractor plans to lay off up to forty workers at the end of June in New Hanover County.
Mundy Maintenance Services and Operations, LLC announced its plans to the affected employees Friday. The company's cutbacks are taking place at work being done on the Invista site in the county.
Ben Ramsey with Mundy's corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas tells WECT.com they are curtailing production at the Invista site. Ramsey says the affected employees have skills in high demand. The company hopes to place as many people as possible at other sites in which it is doing work around the area.
Mundy is doing work at several locations in the area, including DAK Americas, GE and Elementis.
The layoffs are set to take effect June 30th.
