WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – We want to help you get started saving money in 2012, and there is a method to the madness.

We all say we want to spend less and save more, but often, we don't really know how to do it.  It's easy to say you'll stop spending, but ultimately, it's unrealistic.

That's where we come in.  We're going to start featuring your money in a minute.  And this article is going to center around emails.

We want to help you save money this year and help you save big.  But before we get started, we really need to help you get set up.  That's the first thing.

We debated whether to show this tip because it's a little mundane, but the truth is, it's extremely beneficial and extremely easy.  The very first step you need to take to start saving money is to start a new email address simply just for saving money.  It's a great tip because it keeps all of your emails in one place, and it doesn't flood your other accounts.

That means all of your current store rewards cards should be transferred to this email.  Any time a company asks you for your email, which they do now a lot, you can send them to that email.  Or even friends can now feel safe referring your new email to other companies if they find a good deal.

It really does sound simple, but it is one of the best things to do to help you start saving money.  To follow more money saving tips and great deals, follow Michelle Li for the latest real-time updates.
