NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Crews had to cut a driver out of a van after a crash in Wilmington Wednesday night.

The wreck happened at 16th and Castle Streets around 8:15 p.m.

Police say the driver of a red truck heading toward the river on Castle Street ran a red light at 16th Street. He hit a van, and that driver had to be cut out of the wreckage.

Police arrested the truck driver for DWI. They have not released his name.

Crews took the van's driver to the hospital. Police say he was stable at the scene.
