NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - An assistant principal at Laney High School has been cleared after an investigation into her conduct with a student, according to Pender County Sheriff Carson Smith.

Smith confirmed to WECT.com that his office has completed its investigation into Stephanie Robin Lamberty and found no evidence of wrongdoing.  Pender County took the investigation over from the New Hanover County Sheriff's Department.

Lambert was suspended from Laney High in June when allegations of an inappropriate relationship between her and a student surfaced.  Lamberty was suspended with pay during this investigation.

A spokesperson for New Hanover County Schools says there is no update to Lamberty's status at this point, but there may be more information next week.

Lamberty started working at Laney last July.  She has been with the school system since 2007.
