Phipps faces federal charges

An FBI Agent handcuffed former State Agriculture Commissioner Meg Scott Phipps as she surrendered to authorities. Phipps turned herself in to face federal charges including extortion and fraud. She was met as she got out of her car, handcuffed and led to the U.S. Marshal's office to be fingerprinted and photographed. Phipps faces twenty eight charges, including twenty three felonies. She is the daughter of former Governor Bob Scott and grandaughter of former Governor Kerr Scott.
