Chinquapin boy's big moment on NBC's 'Today Show'
CHINQUAPIN, NC (WECT) A star is born.
If you were watching the 'Today Show' on Thursday morning on WECT, you may have noticed Lukas Brown, 7, from Chinquapin in Duplin County.
Al Roker interviewed Brown, who was standing with his mother outside Rockefeller Center during the show.
"You OK bud?" Rocker asked Brown.
After his mom coached him to say hello, Brown responded, "If I had a heater I would!"
The gang from the Today Show invited the boy inside the studio, where he sat right between Matt and Meredith and sipped hot chocolate.
Brown even showed off his rapping and dancing skills during his big moment on TV.
Brown attends Chinquapin Elementary School.
His principal, Pamela Jenkins, tells WECT that she was thrilled to see him on the show. She says Brown is known for saying what's on his mind.
"Lukas says what he thinks," she said "If you don't want to know, don't ask him."
Jenkins received a call from the boy's mom moments before he was on live TV, so many at the school were able to watch.
Brown was in New York for an annual trip with his mom. He was excused from school for the trip. He certainly will have a great story to share with his friends, classmates and teachers once he returns.
