TABOR CITY, NC (WECT) - A North Carolina publication has reported new allegations of sexual misconduct by State Senator R.C. Soles.

The Carolina Journal published an online report saying a 47-year-old man alleges he was sexually assaulted by Soles when he was 13.  The report states Soles lured him into his home and piled him with alcohol before sexually assaulting him.  It further states Soles threatened the man and his family to keep quiet.

Soles' attorney, Joseph Chesire, said he checked his records and believes the story the man told does not match the published report.  Chesire has dismissed the claims as a matter of extortion.

"To say that R.C. Soles, this man that this community has known , the longest serving senator our state has ever had, is going to threaten to kill them or hurt them is truly one of the most absurd, laughable things that I have seen in the thirty-six years I've practiced law in this state," said Chesire.

The SBI is investigating the state lawmaker for similar allegations made by Stacey Scott, who later recanted his storyIn an exclusive interview with WECT, Scott said he was on drugs when he made those allegations and he had never had sexual relations with the senator.
