Man charged after fatal shooting near Campus Cove; victim identified
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A 21-year-old Wilmington man was arrested and charged in connection to a fatal shooting on Thursday, Sept. 26.
Per the Wilmington Police Department, police responded to the 300 block of Campus Cove just after 7 p.m. on a report that a gun was fired after people thought it was unloaded.
Officers found a 20-year-old woman, now identified as Skyler Pattillo, with life-threatening injuries, and an ambulance was called. She passed away from her injuries in the hospital.
Triston Spencer was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the case and is being held at the county jail under a $150,000 bond. UNCW has confirmed that he was enrolled from the Fall of 2023 to the Summer of 2024.
