WARSAW, N.C. (WITN) - No charges will be filed after a child brought a gun to an Eastern Carolina elementary school.
Duplin County Schools says it happened yesterday at Warsaw Elementary School.
The school system says the first grader accidentally picked up his father’s bookbag. They say the father immediately came to the school when he realized his child had the wrong bag.
The bookbag was found and a school resource officer secured the weapon.
Duplin County deputies said there’ll be no charges since the child never intended to possess the gun on campus, harm anyone, or pose a threat to the school.
The school system did not say whether the gun was loaded or not.
