19-year-old dies in motorcycle wreck in Brunswick County

ASH, N.C. (WECT) - A 19-year-old died in a wreck involving a motorcycle and tractor-trailer on Whiteville Rd. and Mill Branch Road that shut down both lanes Thursday night at 5:26 p.m.

The 19-year-old was driving a motorcycle and, according to multiple witnesses, was speeding. The motorcycle was driving west, and the tractor-trailer was driving east on NC 130. The tractor-trailer made a left turn onto Mill Branch Road, and the motorcycle attempted to drive around it and hit a Ford F-150 head on.

A NC State Highway Patrol representative said that the speeding of the motorcycle was a contributing circumstance in the crash.

No charges have been filed and no one else was seriously injured in the crash.
