UPDATE: Utility company cancels boil water advisory for parts of Brunswick County

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The boil water advisory has been canceled for Brunswick County Public Utilities customers in parts of Brunswick County along Varnamtown Road that may have experienced low water pressure and outages Monday afternoon because of a broken water main.

Affected areas along Varnamtown Road (from Riverside Dive to the Lockwood Folly River) include Dixon Street, Trawler Drive, Champion Drive, Melrose Lane, River Run Drive, N. Ebbtide Lane, S. Ebbtide Lane, Old River Road, and Gal-Var Road.

Customers in these areas are advised to boil all water used for human consumption because low pressure increases the risk for back-siphonage, which can introduce harmful bacteria into the water system.
