COMMUNITY CLASSROOM: Teacher wants flexible seating so “students can feel like they are more at home”
Teacher wants students to feel at home in the classroom
LELAND, N.C. (WECT) - Ashley Murphy says her students love sitting on the carpet in her classroom. The math teacher at North Brunswick High School says it makes them feel more relaxed while learning. That’s why she’s asking for flexible seating through DonorsChoose, an online charity that helps teachers get funding for school projects.
“What we’re trying to create is this atmosphere where students can feel like they are more at home.” Murphy says. “Like how they study with seats that are on the floor than have back support and a place for them to really learn and engage in the material.”
Ms. Murphy needs $288. Once she is fully funded, DonorsChoose will purchase the seats and deliver them to the school.
