WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Wilmington Police arrested three people for throwing fireworks and blocking traffic on N. 3rd Street in downtown Wilmington Monday evening.

According to Wilmington PD, Marion Timothy Joyner, Jamie McManus and Joshua Gordon Zieseniss were arrested for resisting arrest. WPD said they received a call about fireworks being set off; when law enforcement arrived, the three were blocking traffic on 3rd Street.

The three individuals left the street after being ordered to do so by Wilmington Police. They then came back and began disrupting traffic again on 3rd Street, which led to their arrests.

Police first received calls about the disturbance in front of City Hall around 6 p.m.

Tim Joyner and Joshua Zieseniss, members of the the Lowercase Leaders, a group formed last spring in the wake of the George Floyd protests, were charged with vandalizing a Trump billboard in October.

As recently as two weeks ago, Joyner and Zieseness were in the public eye as activists gathered in downtown Wilmington to call for their charges to be dropped.
