Fayetteville man accused of setting fire to Brunswick County home

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - A Fayetteville man is accused of setting a Brunswick County home on fire early Tuesday morning.

According to the Winnabow Fire Department, crews responded to 1024 Bear Trap Drive, off Town Creek Road, around 3:30 a.m. and found the front of the home on fire as they arrived.

The home appeared to sustain heavy damage in the fire. No one was home at the time, officials say.

Gustavo Rangel, 26, was taken into custody by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and charged with one count of felony burning certain buildings, according to an arrest warrant.

He was booked into jail under a $40,000 bond.

No other details about Rangel’s arrest were provided by the sheriff’s office.
