WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The shooting of an 18-year-old man at Cypress Grove Apartments on Monday stemmed from a drug deal, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
Officers responded to the apartment complex just before 3:30 p.m. in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, officers located the man suffering from a non-life threatening wound.
“Detectives now know the shooting was the result of a drug deal gone bad,” the WPD said in a news release. “The firearm found at the scene, and photographed by a witness, belonged to the 18 year old.”
The investigation is ongoing.
