First Alert Forecast: a slug of rain, but not immediately

Your First Alert Forecast from Thu. morning, Jan. 7, 2021

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Hello! Wednesday featured welcome dryness across the Cape Fear Region and your First Alert Forecast preserves it Thursday. Enjoy sun and clouds and afternoon high temperatures mainly in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

Next: a change for the wetter as a low pressure system slogs across the Carolinas. Thickening Thursday evening clouds will herald Thursday night showers and a lingering spell or two of rain could still happen Friday and Friday night. Temperatures will toggle between the chilly middle 30s and cool middle 50s in this period and, if only by a little bit, that ought to preclude snow in most or all of the Cape Fear Region. However, snowy lower 30s appear likely for some parts of northern and western North Carolina - especially the mountains!

In your extended forecast: a refreshing shift back to dry for the weekend before another rain opportunity early next week. Catch details in your seven-day planner for Wilmington here, or extend your outlook to ten days with your WECT Weather App!
