First Alert Forecast: dry weather rules with two key exceptions

Your First Alert Forecast from Tue. morning, Jan. 5, 2021

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Good to see you! Your First Alert Forecast features seasonably chilly temperatures across the Cape Fear Region in the short-term and long-term. Tuesday is a perfect case-in-point: early 30s and 40s will have grown to the lower or middle 50s in the afternoon.

Tuesday will also present a small exception to a what, for most of this forecast period, will be a dry weather rule: an upper-level disturbance will wring-out variable clouds and possibly a passing shower or two. Rain amounts will be a few hundredths of an inch at most.

Friday will bring higher shower odds as a strong storm system cruises in with the southern branch of the jet stream. For now, your forecast features plain-old raindrops for the Cape Fear Region but, interestingly, a snow changeover line may set up not too far northwest.
