WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) told member schools Thursday that indoor sport student-athletes will need to wear masks.
All people taking part in indoor skill sessions, including athletes, coaches, and support staff, will be required to always wear a mask.
All volleyball players will be required to wear a mask, even when participating in competitions.
The changes were made at the recommendation of the NCHSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee and with input from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.
Previous guidance from the NCHSAA required athletes to wear masks at all times other than when they were actively engaged in physical activity.
