SURF CITY, N.C. (WECT) - Residents and visitors to Surf City can now submit anonymous crime tips to the town’s police department.

According to a news release, the Surf City Police Department partnered with Motorola Solutions to launch the service, which is called TipSubmit.

Tips can be submitted online at www.tipsubmit.com, via text by sending a text message to “CRIMES” (274637) with the keyword surfcity, or using Surf City’s City Protect website at www.cityprotect.com/agency/surfcitypd.

Police say the tips, which can include photos and videos, are submitted anonymously to the police department by Motorola.

“Once police receive the tip, police can send a message back to the tipster to ask for more details, if needed. The tipster is not required to give any personal identifying information unless they choose to,” the news release stated.
