WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Alex Highsmith continues to shine as a rookie for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Sunday, Highsmith recorded his first professional interception in the Steelers, 28-24, road win against division rivals, the Baltimore Ravens.
In the 3rd quarter, with Pittsburgh trailing, 17-7, Highsmith picked off reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson in a play that sparked the Steelers.
“I knew when that play started that they were coming back to that play,” said Highsmith. "They ran the same play in the first half, and I didn’t drop deep enough, and they threw it over my head. I learned from that play and dropped deeper, and the ball fell right into my hands.
With the victory, Pittsburgh improved to 7-0, and are the only undefeated team remaining in the NFL.
