Your First Alert forecast for Wednesday evening Oct. 28, 2020

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Happy Wednesday evening to you! Your First Alert Forecast features dramatic weather changes for the Cape Fear Region as the remnants of Hurricane Zeta infuse energy into a passing cold front. Zeta itself will reserve its greatest impacts for the Deep South through Thursday. Amazingly, the storm is the eighth to landfall along the U.S. Gulf Coast in 2020. Keep this region in your thoughts! Hurricane Zeta made landfall at 5 p.m. Wednesday near Cocodrie, LA.

In the Cape Fear Region, shower and storm chances will rise and fall with the approach and passage of the cold front: 20% Wednesday, 40% Thursday, 60% Thursday evening, 20% Friday, and 0% for Halloween Saturday. The area will also be on the southeastern edge of the risk zone for flooding and severe storms. Your First Alert Weather Team will monitor the situation in case any feisty cells manage to sneak in late Thursday.

Temperatures will also be elastic. Expect balmy highs within a few degrees of 80 Wednesday, near-record lower to middle 80s Thursday, cooler 70s Friday, nippy 40s Friday night, and brisk 50s and 60s for Halloween. Your seven-day planning forecast for Wilmington also dives into a cool start to November. Catch that right here!
