Man charged with murder, investigation continues after Leland shooting
LELAND, N.C. (WECT) - The Leland Police Department responded to a deadly shooting that happened around 9 p.m. Friday night on W. B. and S. Road.
26-year-old Dondre Shaw was found by police suffering from a gunshot wound stemming from an argument. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After investigation, detectives charged 67-year-old Ronald Merrick with Second Degree Murder. Police tell WECT that the two men knew each other and there is not believed to be any threat to the public.

The SBI and the Brunswick County District Attorney’s Office assisted with the investigation, which is still ongoing.
