4 arrested, 2 sought for string of vehicle break-ins, Leland police say

LELAND, N.C. (WECT) - Four people have been arrested and two others are wanted in connection with a string of vehicle break-ins in the town of Leland earlier this summer.

On June 1, the Leland Police Department began a seven-week investigation after 35 unlocked vehicles were broken into in four separate communities on four separate dates. Four firearms and a vehicle were stolen among the three dozen break-ins, police said.

The four suspects who are in custody are:

  • Michael Darnell Henderson Jr., 18, of Hampton, Va. who’s charged with 16 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, and eight counts of misdemeanor larceny.
  • Juwan Kyrell Holmes, 20, of Norfolk, Va., who’s charged with 18 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, seven counts of misdemeanor larceny, one count of larceny of a motor vehicle, and one count of larceny of a firearm.
  • Gabriel Dominic Perez, 18, of Leland, who’s charged with three counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
  • Koraun Dominic Thompson, 21, of Navassa, 12 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, six counts of misdemeanor larceny, and one count of financial card theft.

Law enforcement are still searching for the following suspects:

  • Daveon Nixon Trillo, 20, of Norfolk, Va., who’s wanted on 19 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, seven counts of misdemeanor larceny, three counts of larceny of a firearm, and one count of financial card fraud.
  • Demari Lee Darden, 19, of Jacksonville, Fla., who’s wanted on one count of aiding and abetting the larceny of a motor vehicle.

The investigation is still ongoing, and if anyone has any information regarding the whereabouts of the remaining suspects, they are encouraged to contact the Leland Police Department or their local law enforcement agency.
