WPD: Juveniles detained after shots fired at home on Anderson St.

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Three juveniles were detained and another one is being sought after shots were fired at a home on Anderson Street early Friday morning.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, officers responded to the 500 block of Anderson St. shortly after 1 a.m. after a caller reported multiple shots had been fired at a home occupied by five people, including children. No injuries were reported.

“Officers were advised a red Jeep may have been involved, and identified the suspect as a 16-year-old male,” the WPD said in a news release. “After the initial call was completed (around 1:50 a.m.), an officer located a vehicle matching that description and attempted a traffic stop. The driver fled and lost control of the vehicle, spinning out and hitting a bush, around two minutes into the pursuit. At that time, the vehicle’s four occupants — all juveniles — attempted to flee on foot.”

Police say one of the occupants suffered an injury to his foot when the driver ran over it as he attempted to flee. Two other juveniles were detained.

The WPD said they are searching for the fourth suspect, a 16-year-old who was believed to have been driving the vehicle.

Police say that the vehicle was stolen and that a shotgun and a rifle were found inside.
