Man abducts pregnant girlfriend at knifepoint, Wilmington police say

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A man is in jail after he allegedly abducted his estranged, pregnant girlfriend at knifepoint early Friday morning.

Around 2 a.m., officers responded to 522 S. Kerr Avenue and found a male victim, who had been stabbed, sitting on the stairs outside of his apartment.

Witnesses told police James Christian Waters, 38, had gotten into a verbal argument with the victim and stabbed him. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and later released.

Waters then kidnapped his girlfriend at knifepoint and left, police say.

Police searched throughout the morning, and located them at Waters’ residence in Wheel Estates Mobile Home Park.

Waters was taken into custody and charged with first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and first-degree burglary.

He was booked in jail under no bond.
