Two suffer burns in Southport vehicle fire

SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WECT) - Two people were injured during a vehicle fire in Southport early Thursday morning.

A spokesperson for the State Highway Patrol said the incident happened just after midnight on S. Wax Myrtle Drive in the Southport area.

One of the victims was flown to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment. Their current condition is not known.

According to Assistant Fire Chief Todd Coring, the other victim was treated at the scene.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.

Out on a vehicle fire, where 2 subjects were burned... 1 patient will be flown to the burn center.
