RALEIGH, N.C. (WECT) - State health officials reported four new flu-related deaths in the week ending on March 28, according to the State Department of Health and Human Services.

Since a season high of 19 deaths were reported for the week ending Feb. 22, flu-related deaths have been trending downward in North Carolina.

The typical flu season ends on March 31, but the NCDHHS has extended the reporting period for this flu season to the week ending May 16.
