WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - More than a week after two cats were dumped illegally behind the New Hanover Humane Society, one has found a new forever home.
Monica Filyaw of “All 4 Cats” cat rescue said the older female cat was adopted earlier this week.
An officer saw the cats and took them to the shelter. They were eventually taken by All 4 Cats.
“It was an older [female] cat for an older couple, they thought she looked adorable, they were happy to give her a home with her backstory, where she had been dumped,” said Filyaw. “They sent me an email with pictures later saying that it was just the perfect fit for [their] family.”
The other cat, dubbed, “Graham Cracker,” remains in the care of All 4 cats. He is being treated for a possible urinary tract infection.
He’s so friendly, and he’s doing so well,” added Filyaw. He’s an adorable orange tabby who is about 2 years old.”
The New Hanover Humane Society remains closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The sheriff’s office was looking for the owners for illegal abandonment.
