First Alert Forecast: summery and sunny weekend

Your First Alert Forecast from Fri. evening, Mar. 27, 2020

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Good Friday evening to you and thanks for checking into your First Alert Forecast! Wilmington saw a record high of 87 this afternoon, beating the old record of 85 set in 2007. A high pressure ridge remains on-track to squash rain-clouds over the Cape Fear Region this weekend, so your “weather grades” for all kinds of great outdoor social distancing activities like gardening and jogging will stay in B or A-territory. Check out how temperatures will turn-up, too...

Friday night: Look for mostly clear to partly cloudy skies with lows in the lower 60s to middle 60s.

Weekend highs: mainly 74-82 at the beach and 82-90 on the mainland. The hottest spots ought to be northwest of Highway 17.

Nightly lows: mainly in the balmy middle and upper 60s with the option for a few lower 60s to mix in closer to the coast.

Next week: a dry front will cool high temperatures to the 70s Monday and 60s through Thursday. Rain chances will spike midweek to near 50% Wednesday.

Shower and storm chances return to your longer-range forecast, as March shifts to April.
